每四年一次的世界比较法大会于7月20日-26日，在古老的世界名校维也纳大学召开。来自世界各国（地区）的500多位比较法学专家和学者参加了此次学术盛会。我院金承东副教授应邀参加了此次盛会。
会议于21日正式开始，开幕式上，前奥地利宪法法院院长、现总统顾问Ludwig Adamovich代表奥地利总统Heinz Fischer致开幕词。开幕式后，会议围绕各个部门法领域的专题问题，持续6天，分3个分会场分别进行报告和讨论。
会议讨论主题非常丰富。法史和人类学领域讨论了“Migration and law”问题； 宪法领域讨论了“Foreign precedents in constitutional litigation” 和“Limitations on government debt and public deficit”问题；民法领域讨论了 “Disgorgement of profits”和“The effects of financial crises on the binding force of contracts: renegotiation, rescission or revision”、“Contractualisation of family law”、“The influence of human rights and basic rights in private law”；行政法领域讨论了“Recognition of foreign administrative acts”问题；商法领域讨论了“The law of close corporations”、“The protection of minority investors and the compensation of their losses”、“Company Law and the Law of Succession”问题；国际私法领域讨论了“The effects of corruption in international commercial contracts”和 “Proof of and information about foreign law”问题；法理学领域讨论了“Judicial rulings with prospective effect”和“The independence of a meritorious elite : The government of judges and democracy” ；国际公法领域讨论了“The UN Convention on the rights of the child and its implementation in national law”和“Damages for the infringement of human rights”；劳动法领域讨论了“Whistleblowing”；航空和海事法领域讨论“Security interests burdening transport vehicles – The Capetown Convention and its implementation in national law”；税法领域讨论了“Taxation and development”；刑法领域讨论了“Counter-terrorism law”；民事诉讼领域讨论了“Mediation, more particularly, cross-border and judicial mediations”和“The organisation of legal professions”；环境法领域讨论了“Genetic technology and food security”；人权领域讨论了“Applicable religious rules according to the law of the State”和“Social and economic rights as fundamental rights”；商法领域讨论了“Personal guarantees between commercial law and consumer protection”；知识产权法领域讨论了“License contracts, free software and creative commons”；计算机法领域讨论了“Secondary liability of service providers”；刑事诉讼法领域讨论了“Undercover investigations”；法律教育领域讨论了“The internationalisation of legal education”；此外还就垮部门法的 “Jurisprudence of Finance”、 “Emerging Forms of Finance”、“The influence of systemic transition on jurisprudence and doctrine”、 “The role of language as a dynamic part of a legal tradition”、 “Finance Viewed from the Standpoint of Different Legal Traditions: The Example of Islamic Finance”、“Protection of private autonomy through Legal Advice”等问题进行了报告和讨论。会议的形式也是多样化：既有正式的主题报告形式，也有专题论文报告形式，还有圆桌讨论、小组讨论等形式。
在紧张的学术讨论之余，承办方还安排代表们参观了维也纳古城与葡萄酒庄。26日晚，维也纳市长在著名的维也纳市政厅为大家举行了盛大的庆祝晚宴。
