Guanghua Law School of Zhejiang University 2019 Korea Winter Camp – Seoul Tour

 On January 26, 2019, under the leadership of Prof. Ma Guang, Mr. Yuan Jie and Ms. Pei Honghong, students from Guanghua Law School of Zhejiang University started their seven-day study and visit to Seoul, South Korea. They visited National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, Kim & Chang Law Firm, Korea University, Seoul High Prosecutor’s Office and other institutes.

First, the visiting group went to National Assembly where they were given reports by Mr. 朴钉, member of National Assembly and Mr. 朴柄燮, Director of General Department of Legal Bureau of Korea National Assembly Affairs Office, and they also visited National Assembly Building and Memorial Hall. Later, in Kim & Chang Law Firm, the students exchanged their ideas with 孙锦兰, lawyer of the firm, who shared opinions on the differences of legal profession in China and South Korea.

Afterwards, the visiting group attended the lecture, given by Prof. 朴鲁馨, on the development of International Cyber Law order and paid visit to Prof. 明淳龟, Dean of Korea University Law School, who appreciated the work on strengthening the connections between Law Schools of Two universities. After that, the group was welcomed by Dr. 权熙焕, Vice Executive Secretary of International Arbitration Committee in Korean Commercial Arbitration Board, who briefly introduced the arbitration system and Korean Commercial Arbitration Board.

On January 30, the visiting group arrived at Seoul National University where the students had a better understanding of the relationship between China and South Korea, as well as the Korea Legal education system. The group also visited Seoul High Prosecutor’s Office and South Korean High Court for learning about the judicial system of South Korea.

At the end of the study tour, the group went to Ewha Womans University and Constitutional Court of Korea. In Constitutional Court, Mr.金胜振, Officer of Constitution Research gave a lecture on “Constitutional Court and Constitution Litigation in Korea” to discuss the history and system foundation of the Court.

Apart from the visits to academic institutes, the students also went to tourist attractions Gyeongbokgung Palace, Cheonggyecheon River and so on. The seven-day study tour broadens the students’ horizon and offers opportunities for them to learn more about foreign legal system.
