“Teaching Case and Case Teaching” ——The Second Seminar on Seeking New Methods for Civil Law Teaching Was Successfully Held

On September 6, 2019, the second seminar on Seeking New Methods for Civil Law Teaching was held by Zhejiang University Civil and Commercial Law Research Institute and Zhijiang Young Scholars Law Group, in Zhijiang Campus Library. Indeed numerous scholars from China University of Political Science and Law, East China University of Political Science and Law, Peking University, South China University of Technology, Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics, Jinan University, Hunan University, East China Normal University and Civil and Commercial Law Institute of Guanghua Law School attended to the meeting.


The seminar was organized in four sections. The first section was hosted by Mr. Shi Feng from Guanghua Law School, centering on “Historical Review and Methodology”. Indeed, Ms. Jin Jing from China University of Political Science and Law and Mr. Zhang Cheng from Zhejiang University Guanghua Law School stated their ideas on the law teaching patterns from the German and Japanese perspective.


Mr. Zhang Cheng especially pointed out the importance of the “progressive teaching pattern” of Germany. In other words, professors should particular attention to the German education system.


After, the second section was to study on “case teaching and course design”. Mr. Yao Mingbin from East China University of Political Science and Law, Mr. Mao Shaowei from Peking University and Mr. Ye Zhusheng from South China University of Technology, respectively expounded on the undergraduate courses, postgraduate guidance, teaching objectives of basic courses and, cases teaching of civil law in the legal clinic based on their respective classroom teaching and practical experience.


Then at the third section, Mr. Fang Siyuan from Jinan University, Mr. Wang Wensheng from Hunan University, Mr. Wang Meng from East China University of Political Science and Law and Mr. Lu Qing from Guanghua Law School gave keynote speeches on case selection and teaching methods.


Finally the fourth part was focused on the “Multi-listeners course configuration”. Mr. Zhao Wenjie from East China University of Political Science and Law and Mr. Li Jianxing from East China Normal University gave reports on “Difficulties and contents selection of debt law” and “Teaching methods of civil law for juris master”.


The seminar ended successfully with a closing speech given by Mr. Zhang Cheng who warmly welcomed scholars to come again in Zhejiang University.
