International Law Seminars No. 3: Controversy over COVID-19 from the perspective of Jurisprudence

On May 30, 2020,the 3rd lecture of International Law Salon 2020 was successfully held with the help of the video conference mode of Ding Talk platform. The theme of this lecture is the dispute on COVID-19 from the perspective of jurisprudence.The keynote speaker is Prof. Guan Jianqiang, Doctoral supervisor and Director of the Center for Military Law Research of East China University of Political Science and Law, Executive Director of China Society of International Law, Special Expert of Chinese Academy of Military Sciences. Prof. Ma Guang, Director of the Institute of international law, Guanghua law school, Zhejiang University, presided over the lecture. Some graduate students and undergraduates from Guanghua law school, Zhejiang University attended the lecture.

Professor Guan pointed out that the legal issues behind the epidemic should be the concern and consideration of all law students. Law scholars should be more aware of the problems and think about how to improve the relevant legal issues.

The focus of this lecture is to analyze this issue from the perspectives of domestic law and international law. First of all, the problems existing in existing domestic laws and regulations and how to solve them. Secondly, how to view the relevant international law issues such as state immunity under the epidemic situation. Professor Guan also introduced to the teachers and students the origins and solutions of the forced labor issue which is controversial with Japan.

Finally, Professor Guan welcomed teachers and students to follow his WeChat official account and discuss academic issues together.
