    The Center for Ocean Law and Governance, together with Guanghua Law School and the Collaborative Innovation Center for the Belt and Road Initiative will co-host an International Symposium on "Global Commons and the Law of the Sea"Scheduled on 22-23 June 2015 in Hangzhou, China. It will bring togethe distinguished scholars worldwide to discuss the issues related to global commons and seek feasible ways and means for further cooperation and communications among countries and regions in the field of the law of the sea. Scholars from both home and abroad who are interested in these topics are warmly welcomed to join us.

    Six important topics have been identified for the Symposium and they include as followed:
    1.The Applicability of the Principle of Common Heritage of Mankind;
    2.Governance of Areas beyond National Jurisdiction;
    3.International Seabed and Deep Sea Mining;
    4.Use and Management of Marine Genetic Resources;
    5.Rethinking of the Freedoms of High Seas;
    6.Governance of Polar Regions.
