On July 4th, the group came to the United Nations headquarters in the center of Bangkok to visit the Economic and Social Council for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), in the UN Convention Center (UNCC). We followed the staff to visit the UNCC, learned about the architectural concept of the ESCAP building, and then went to the lecture hall to listen to a lecture. The staff introduced the history and main institutions of the United Nations, the positioning and functions of ESCAP, and the 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda. We learned that ESCAP is the only intergovernmental comprehensive economic and social development organization of the United Nations in the Asia-Pacific region, and it is also the largest intergovernmental multilateral organization in the Asia-Pacific region. Its main function is to promote the social and economic development of the region through regional and sub-regional cooperation. We had a more intuitive understanding of the connotation, implementation methods and current status of the 17 sustainable development goals. In addition, we had a further understanding of the ways to enter the United Nations, which has inspired the enthusiasm of our teachers and students to enter the United Nations and ESCAP in the future. Finally, Dr. Wang Sen and Ms. Han Xiuxiu presented souvenirs to ESCAP.
